In partnership with Second Harvest Food Bank and other area businesses, twice a week Parkview prepares bags of food for approximately 70 needy neighborhood children / families.
Kids Cafe
We feed any child FREE! Monday - Friday 4pm - 5pm
Partnership with Department of Social Services
A Department of Social Service (DSS) representative comes to Parkview at least once a week (and whenever needed) to check on the kids who are in the DSS system and follow up with their parents. In addition, through the Parkview facility, DSS provides foster parenting training to grandparents raising their grandchildren.
Community-Building and Advocacy Activities
The Parkview Community Foundation organizes neighborhood cleanups and produces and distributes a neighborhood newsletter. The Foundation helps to educate the community in how and when to contact city officials to enforce city housing codes, vagrancy statutes and other regulations. The Foundation also encourages absentee landlords to evict tenants engaged in drug dealing, prostitution and other criminal activities.
