Gwendolyn Brown Johnson

Gwendolyn Brown-Johnson has a passion for children, especially the children of the Parkview community. She is the CEO, President and Chief Operating Officer for the Parkview Community Foundation, Inc. This foundation is the brainchild of Mr. & Mrs. Johnson. Gwendolyn Johnson, a concerned and caring Parkview resident saw that the children in the neighborhood lacked adequate parental or responsible adult guidance, supervision and protection from a hazardous social environment.

Without the benefit of neighborhood or community support, Mrs. Johnson opened her own home to the children, giving them a place to stay after school. She offered them meals mixed with compassion and love. Within a short time, up to ten children began to come to her house regularly for breakfast and dinner. In 1997, Gwen moved the growing operation from her home into an abandoned house at 1100 Pryor Street , and the Parkview Community Foundation was incorporated.

Gwendolyn, as she likes to be called, is the daughter of Charles and Katherine Brown. Born in Mooresville, NC, she is the second of five children. Mrs. Brown is married to Ardis L. Brown, Sr for the last 30 years and they are the proud parents of three adopted children and five grand-children.
