The Parkview Community Foundation is located on the west side of Charlotte in the Enderly Park Sub-Division. The children of Parkview face high rates of incarceration among parents, and a significant number of children are being raised by grandparents. There is widespread drug use and/or sales among parents and others in the neighborhood. Many children are left unsupervised after school and well into the night, and at other times when school is not in session.

Neglect is common to the children of Parkview. That is why we are committed to the enrichment of the lives of our children. Parkview offers a structured environment that fosters respect for rules and other people. Children come to Parkview every day from the time they get out of school – starting at 2:00pm and they stay until 5:30pm.

Parkview is unique in the services that is offers to our after-school participants such as:

*A pro-homework atmosphere and support.
*Adult staff and volunteers that assist with tutoring, meals and discipline.
*Computer-assisted learning in literacy and math using donated computers and software.
*Weekly food distribution for the Parkview children and their families.
*An effective program of discipline and reward that encourages good behavior.
*The children of the Center publish a quarterly newsletter the promote their program and also encourage the mechanics of writing, communication, and desktop publishing.

In addition to these programs, the Parkview staff also works closely with the Department of Social Services to offer drug and alcohol prevention education. These are just a few of the many services that Parkview offers to encourage change in the lives of children affording them an opportunity for a brighter future.
